Welcome Current and Prospective Athletes,
For those of you already a part of the program this shouldn't be news. For everyone else, I'd like to share a little bit more about myself (so bear with me :) I currently train and Coach at CrossFit Stamford (as you could have probably figured out from that high def pic of the floor above). It's also where I train my personal clients, mornings, evenings and weekends. I work as an Associate in Transportation at Frederick P. Clark Associates, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, in an office in Rye, New York; which means I have come to discover the value of time and completely understand how hard it can be to balance work, life (healthy eating & exercise), and play.
While I thoroughly enjoy my occupation, I've also discovered and a passion for coaching/personal training. There is nothing in life more satisfying than watching people develop and achieve their goals. It's really what drives me during those late night training sessions or motivates meet - up at 8:00, 7:00 or even 6:00 A.M. in the morning (Surprise, surprise everyone knows me as "not a morning person").
I'll admit, I never in a million years imagined I would be sitting in front of this computer writing a health and fitness blog, but this juncture it feels perfectly right (I guess all that writing in Grad school is finely paying off mom!). I also never imagined that my very own personal training venture would takeoff in the way that he has (that's a shout-out to everyone I have the pleasure of working with on a weekly basis). I truly mean it when I say that my clients are all my best friends. You guys & girls give me more energy and inspiration than you imagine.
It's so easy to go off on tangents in this industry, but let me just specify, that when I say "takeoff" I mean to imply it's only the very beginning. This blog is the next step. A place for all my friends to check up on their daily workouts, keep track of their benchmarks, leave comments and interact with each other, and for me to disseminate a steady stream of relevant information. The next step is, well, to open a gym. There I said it, make sure you hold me accountable! It's going to happen. In the meantime, I think CrossFit Stamford and this website will do just fine. If I still have your attention and you're new to the site, head over to the "Coaches Corner" to see what all the fuss is surrounding Cross Training.
Do Work
~Garrett
